Croust on the Quay
Croust on the quay

Take a break after a busy time shopping and soak up the festival atmosphere by enjoying a drink and some delicious food in our new Croust Bar

Croust (or crib) is the Cornish word for a bite to eat - traditionally, of course, the pasty. But alongside Cornish classics such as cream teas and crab sandwiches, here you will find exotic and contemporary choices, including Mexican quesadillas, Lebanese falafel, Spanish paella and Indian curry, amazingly all produced in Cornwall.

Don't miss St Austell Brewery's exclusive preview of its new Smuggler's Ale at the licenced bar. Cornish cider and soft drinks, Origin coffee and Tregothnan teas will be available too.

The Croust Bar won't just be catering for your appetite, as there will be activities taking place throughout the day in the Cornish Heritage kitchen. The Heritage range cooker is made in Cornwall and Roy Heath, the man behind the NHS Cornwall Food Programme, will be demonstrating how easy it is to use. The emphasis will be on healthy, value-for-money dishes, including Roy's legendary Sunday under-roast. He will also lead our timely University Survival Challenge, where he will help students create meals for under £1. Roy is also offering to analyse recipes using special dietary analysis computer software, so bring along your family favourites.

Among a number of other presenters will be Neil Haydock and his apprentices from Fifteen Cornwall on sustainable fishing, Nigel Tabb of local restaurant Tabb's demonstrating his skills with chocolate (if atmospheric conditions permit), and One Eyed Cat revealing the secrets of tapas.
