Celebrating the very best of Cornish food and drink
The new Funky Food Marquee at this year’s festival will delight and entertain children, whilst making learning fun and enjoyable for all. The Funky Food marquee, sponsored by Trelawney Garden Leisure, aims to educate and entertain children of all ages about where their food comes from and how it is grown. A host of activities will be available for children to get stuck in to; including guessing unusual vegetables in the ‘Vegetable Dip’ game, touching, feeling and tasting different culinary herbs to see if they can identify which is which and working out ‘Where in the world?’ different fruits and vegetables come from. On Saturday, staff from Trelawney Garden Leisure have planned an action-packed line-up of workshops and demonstrations. Children can learn how to plant and grow vegetables, which they can take home to tend until ripe and ready to eat. Also, watch how to transform fruits and vegetables into different shapes in the ‘Vegetable Sculpting Masterclass’. As a special treat, Neil Haydock and the students from Fifteen Cornwall, will be asking children to help them beat their current county stretchy pasta record. Let’s see if they can stretch it to over 6 metres this time! There’s plenty more fun and action planned, but if there’s any spare time, why not enter the Paper plate dinners competition?
